Paul Phillips has tried and won cases in Georgia State and Federal courts since 1993. He has successfully litigated a wide variety of cases, representing clients catastrophically injured or killed by medical malpractice, vehicular and trucking negligence.

Paul graduated from Middlebury College in 1987 cum laude with a B.A. in Philosophy and Physics.  He then worked in New York City as a product liability underwriter for a specialty lines insurer before law school. He earned his law degree from the College of William & Mary's Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 1993. After graduating, Paul joined the Atlanta law firm of Drew, Eckl & Farnham, focusing on product liability, property, and medical malpractice litigation. In 2000, he moved his family to Albany, Georgia, where his practice focused primarily on medical malpractice, and trucking defense.  Since 2007, Paul has devoted his practice to representing seriously injured clients, and clients whose family members have lost their lives due to the negligence of medical providers.  Paul has also represented numerous children and adults injured as a result of the carelessness of schools and other institutions to keep their premises safe.

Paul has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1993. He is licensed to practice in all trial and appellate courts in Georgia, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the 11th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Dougherty Circuit Bar Association, and numerous professional legal associations.

Paul's recent achievements include:

April, 2017: $20.5 million jury verdict in Houston County. Pope v. Akorn, Inc. Medical Malpractice, Pharmaceutical Injury - Our client, Ann Pope, suffered Serotonin Syndrome, a serious central-nervous system reaction caused by the combination of Defendant Akorn, Inc’s drug, Methylene Blue, and a prescription medicine Ann was taking.  The drug company, Akorn failed to include a warning that its Methylene Blue had this dangerous side effect.

March, 2016: Trucking case -  Personal injury claim where tractor trailer failed to yield to oncoming traffic resulting in broken femur and burn injuries - $500,000 settlement.

November, 2015: Medical malpractice - Wrongful Death, Failure to timely diagnose lung cancer in 57 year-old patient - $850,000 settlement.

July, 2015:  Unsafe premises – Wrongful death, Failure to maintain pool water that led to drowning of teen at graduation party - $400,000 settlement.

April, 2015: Automobile negligence - Wrongful Death, Truck crossed into client’s lane - $800,000 policy-limit settlement.

November, 2014: Medical malpractice - jury trial and confidential settlement during deliberations for injuries caused by plastic surgeon during jaw surgery.

October, 2014: Medical malpractice - confidential settlement for injuries caused in PACU following plastic surgery soft tissue procedure.

October, 2014: Sexual abuse of minor while at school - confidential settlement.

July, 2014: Nursing malpractice by home healthcare nurse - confidential settlement.

November, 2013: Sexual Abuse of student while in her dorm room at national university - $2.5 million settlement.

February, 2013: Injuries caused by farming equipment - $3 million settlement.

January, 2013: Medical malpractice jury verdict of $409,000 in Dougherty County for injuries caused by medication error in hospital.

January, 2012: Wrongful death and personal injury victim of a tractor-trailer collision - substantial confidential settlement.

January, 2010: $1.55 Million jury trial verdict in Lowndes County, Georgia for the wrongful death of a college student in a pedestrian-truck accident.

Final resolution of clients' claims against a national hospital chain for nursing/pharmacist malpractice; obtained a substantial mediated

Jury trial verdict of $285,000 in Dougherty County for client burned on the job while operating an agricultural tanker truck.

Multiple wrongful death and personal injury victims of a tractor-automobile collision - substantial confidential settlement

Successful jury trial defense verdict in Colquitt County in automobile, tractor-trailer collision; sued for $1,400,000.

Final resolution of first-party cancer policy dispute, obtained a substantial confidential settlement from cancer policy insurance company for the insured individual.
